Harvest day 1 - Metamedica

Datum
-

The Harvest Day is a half-yearly event for researchers of the department of Medical Humanities, VUmc, where we can share and reflect upon ideas, work in progress and finished work in regard to our own research.

A Guest Keynote will be given by Prof. dr. Gerrit Glas, psychiatrist and philosopher, and extraodinary professor Dooyeweerd Chair at VU University Amsterdam. He describes his field of expertise as: “My research focuses on philosophical questions at the interface between (neuro)science, philosophy, clinical (mainly psychiatric) practice, and religion. I owe much to the philosophical systematic framework of Herman Dooyeweerd, one of the founding fathers of Christian philosophy in the Reformed tradition in Netherlands. Areas of special interest are: theories on self and personhood, the philosophy of anxiety, the nature of evil and forgiveness, the concept of disease, the epistemology of clinical knowledge, and the nature of normative practices.” In the keynote, Prof. dr. Gerrit Glas will reflect upon his book about person-centred mental health care.
