NNDR - 11th Research conference

Reykjavík, Iceland
May 27 – 28, 2011

Welcome to Reykjavík and welcome to the 11th biannual research conference of NNDR, the Nordic Network on Disability Research. This conference brings together researchers, policy makers, activists and practitioners to share scholarship and ideas, and provides a forum for Nordic and international collaboration in disability studies. NNDR is a multidisciplinary network of researchers. We welcome a wide range of contributions applying social, cultural, historical and philosophical perspectives to the study of disability.

In recent years, there has been a tremendous increase in disability studies internationally with a growing number of scholarly associations, journals, conferences, university programs and courses devoted to the study of disability. We hope the conference will reflect this vibrant diversity.

Stimulated by the disability rights movement, the demands for full and equal human rights for disabled people have been confirmed by the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities. While we welcome a wide range of contributions we particularly encourage those focusing on the UN Convention and how it is implemented and used to promote and protect the rights of disabled people.
